Outreach

One of my hobbies is sharing my passion for the brain with my community. As a graduate student, I volunteered extensively with the UCSD Neuroscience Outreach Program, which sends neuroscience grad students to local high schools and middle schools to deliver a hands-on lesson about the brain. As director of the group, I helped secure outside funding and plan large community events to get kids and adults excited about brains and science. I have continued to be involved in community outreach at New York University (through NOGN) and at UC Santa Barbara. During the pandemic, I have also been involved in remote outreach and mentorship programs such as the NYAS's 1000 Girls, 1000 Futures program.
